AAAUnderstanding Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
WCAG provides standards for web accessibility. For color contrast, there are two main levels of conformance: AA and AAA.
- Level AA: This is the widely accepted minimum level of accessibility. For normal text, it requires a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1. For large text (18pt/24px or 14pt/19px bold), it requires 3:1.
- Level AAA: This is an enhanced level of accessibility. For normal text, it requires a contrast ratio of at least 7:1. For large text, it requires 4.5:1.
Our tool checks your color combination against all four of these requirements, giving you a clear "Pass" or "Fail" for each one. Striving for at least AA compliance is essential for creating websites that are usable by people with visual impairments, such as color blindness.
